Today we’ll meet amazing kids doing charitable work and changing lives. We’ll meet Josephine and Patrick, a brother and sister who were both born with a blood clotting disease called Type IIA Vonwillebrands Disease. In 1999, he and Josephine started foregoing their own birthday parties and presents in favor of collecting toys for sick children and money for various charities. Patrick is also a musician who plays his songs for sick children. They both won the Nestle Very Best in Youth Award and Josephine won an award from Prudential. Their charitable work has now expanded to Hurricane Katrina relief, At Risk Teens and the American Red Cross’s campaign for teen blood donations. We’ll also meet Kiki, Michelle and Princess who began singing together and formed a group called 4 Part Angel. They use their talents in singing and dancing to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief. They began organizing hurricane relief concerts across Mississippi. Their goal is to use their music to help hurricane victims forget about the long road ahead, even if for just one minute. They travel and play in Wal-Mart stores, churches, and anywhere people would let them. They have raised money for organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, and the Mississippi Theater Association. We’ll also meet Joshua, a very sick twelve-year-old boy with a mission. He has undergone multiple heart surgeries since he was born. When he was eight years old he started raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation and raised $25,000 by speaking on the radio and around the community. Joshua is also an Ambassador to the American Heart Association and has helped start a program for service dogs. Joshua’s ten-year-old brother, Bradley, is also helping with all the charitable efforts. Bradley wants to make sure that he can continue Joshua’s work if Joshua becomes unable to do so. The two boys have a goal to raise a million dollars for charities.
